UGA Article featuring Team Marj@Large Marjorie Perry Hello, my name is Marjorie Perry. I started Team Marj @ Large after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in March 2005. Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Not that long ago, I was an avid adventure and fitness enthusiast. I began developing strange symptoms such as double/blurred vision, severe fatigue, numbness and tingling in my extremities, loss of balance, decreased cognitive abilities and loss of mobility in my right leg. Given my love of fitness and the outdoors, it made sense to face my new challenge head on with what I know and love. So, I started a bike team! It started out as a fun group of 19 friends and each year it's grown into more and more fun with hundreds of teammates, volunteers, sponsors, friends, and supporters. We're committed to having a great time for a good cause. I captained the team for five great years. Co-captains Matthew Tallman and John Rodzik took over in 2010 and the fun continues. 2005 Summary 2006 Summary 2007 Summary 2008 Summary 2009 Summary Team Marj @ Large had a Top 5 team with 62 team members and raising over $32,255 for the National MS Society, Georgia Chapter.
